Typical startup competitions in Vietnam in 2022 (Part 2)

It is undeniable that the Covid-19 pandemic has led to changes in the production and operation structure of many industries. This is the driving force for the emergence of digital transformation application solutions. In the context of the Vietnamese economy gradually stabilizing in the new normal period, 2022 is predicted to bring many opportunities for innovative and breakthrough projects in the technology field. Therefore, many startup competitions have been and are being organized to realize potential ideas, and at the same time support startups in the process of completing and developing projects through professional training activities, calling for community capital, and legal advice.

Part 2 of the article “Typical startup competitions in Vietnam in 2022” will focus on innovative startup competitions in the fields of digital transformation, financial technology (Fintech) and blockchain applications.

5. Techfest National Innovation and Startup Festival

Techfest National Innovation and Startup Festival was launched by high-ranking state agencies, national startup organizations and partners. The competition aims to inspire and motivate Gen Z - a young generation that is dynamic, creative and sensitive to new trends of the times.

In addition to the competitions between project representatives, Techfest 2022 also brings a series of special events including virtual reality exhibitions, professional conferences and investment connections. The highlight of the competition is the appearance of new technology villages such as Metaverse Village, Green Energy Village, Circular Economy Village and Digital Transformation Village. Techfest 2022 promises to bring new experiences to participants including contestants, mentors and investors.

6. Finnovation Fintech Startup Challenge

Finnovation Fintech Startup Challenge (Finnovation) is the largest national startup competition in the Fintech field with the mission of promoting the development of the Vietnamese startup ecosystem. This year, Finnovation continues its journey to popularize and raise public awareness of innovation and intellectual property in the field of financial technology.

Finnovation 2022 offers many rewards and opportunities for outstanding candidates in the top 10 of the competition with a starting investment of at least 1,000 USD/project, 1 intensive training course and website building and branding services. The program is associated with 5 domestic and foreign incubators in the fields of Fintech, Proptech, innovation and digital transformation. In addition, participating projects are also supported by a high-tech capital calling platform to reach investors.

7. Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation Challenge

The Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation Challenge is organized by Qualcomm Technologies. This is a playground for individuals, groups and startups that are designing and manufacturing 5G, IoT, artificial intelligence, smart city, wearable and multimedia products.

Qualcomm Technologies is committed to accompanying the 10 startups that pass the preliminary round throughout the program, and continuing to support the 3 excellent startups that make it to the final round after the program ends. At the same time, the startups competing in the final round will receive cash prizes worth 100,000 USD, 75,000 USD and 50,000 USD for the 3 first, second and third prizes, respectively. In addition, Qualcomm Technologies is also provided with free technical support services at the group's laboratories.

8. Hack4Growth 

Hack4Growth is an innovation competition organized by the Organization of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global Corporation) under the auspices of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese. The competition seeks solutions to global issues such as climate change, tourism, agriculture, social equality, urban development, education, health and community safety. Contestants can participate when their project is just a startup idea or has a demo/prototype product.

After 2 successful seasons, Hack4Growth 2022 with the theme Innoverse aims to build an infinite metaverse of innovation and creativity. The total prize of the competition is up to 30,000 USD along with many attractive gifts from the program organizers. Not only that, the top 10 teams also receive financial support of up to 20,000 USD from sponsors.
