Workshop on Innovative Startups based on inventions, technology and intellectual property

On the morning of May 5, 2022, FundGo Creative Startup Investment Fund (FundGo Fund) was honored to participate as a delegate and main sponsor for the Innovative Startup Workshop based on inventions, technology and intellectual property. The workshop was organized by the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN) of Can Tho City, with the participation of Mr. Tran Ngoc He - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Mr. Ngo Anh Tin - Member of the City Party Committee, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City, Mr. Tran Giang Khue - Head of the Representative Office of the National Office of Intellectual Property (SHTT) in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dung - Head of the Management Board of the Invention Space of Can Tho University, along with representatives of departments and more than 150 delegates from agencies and enterprises.

The Innovation Startup Workshop based on inventions, technology and intellectual property was held on the morning of May 5, 2022 in Can Tho City.

The main content of the workshop revolved around the current situation and experience in innovation in technology application, inventions and intellectual property as well as policies and measures to support businesses. Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Tran Ngoc He - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City said that the city has also created conditions and organized programs to promote the development of science and technology in the area. The workshop is an opportunity for individuals with creative ideas and projects to exchange with businesses for the opportunity to develop and apply inventions to life. After the speech, Mr. Tran Ngoc He announced and awarded certificates of merit from the Minister of Science and Technology to individuals and collectives with outstanding achievements in State management of intellectual property in 2021.

At the workshop, Mr. Tran Giang Khue - Head of the Office of the National Office of Intellectual Property in Ho Chi Minh City gave a general speech on the main topic of the workshop. Mr. Khue commented: “Creative startups are startups based on exploiting intellectual property, technology, new business models and have the ability to grow rapidly. Currently, the whole country is promoting innovation to keep up with the world and there are also many unicorn startups in the technology field. Can Tho City is in the top development of the country with prestigious training and research units such as Can Tho University, Mekong Delta Rice Institute and brands, intellectual properties such as Can Tho rice products, Phong Dien cocoa.” He also pointed out some challenges and notes for businesses when starting a creative startup regarding the superiority, difference of products, business models, finance, operating mechanisms, etc.

Representing FundGo Creative Startup Investment Fund, Founder and CEO Vuong Le Vinh Nhan shared about the initial difficulties of the startup journey. Mr. Nhan said: “FundGo was established as a platform to help startups take firm steps on the path of development as well as find more investors to help businesses go further. The Fund will increase investment in seeds and crops to promote the inherent potential of the Mekong Delta region.” FundGo believes that the Fund’s investment and development plan will become a lever for the economic development of the region in particular and the country in general.

Also at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dung - Head of the Management Board of Can Tho University's Innovation Space shared about supporting students and staff of Can Tho University in particular and students in the Mekong Delta in general to participate in experiences and promote creativity, form startup ideas, develop professional skills, soft skills, especially STEAM technology training. In addition, representatives of Smart VieLinKit Education Joint Stock Company and Abavina Production and Trading Joint Stock Company also presented achievements and experiences in exploiting intellectual property assets, technology invention strategies, etc. in a proper and sustainable manner.

After listening to the opinions and sharing of the delegates, Mr. Tran Viet Tuan - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Youth Solidarity Committee of Can Tho City Youth Union, gave a speech on policies and measures to support businesses. According to Mr. Tuan, Can Tho City Youth Union has coordinated with the Department of Planning & Investment, Department of Science & Technology to organize seminars and workshops for young people to exchange and learn and exchange start-up ideas. The City Youth Union also signed agreements with businesses, units, especially FundGo Fund to help young people access support resources and will continuously promote projects to provide maximum support for the innovation of young people. 

At the end of the workshop was the closing speech of Mr. Ngo Anh Tin - Member of the City Party Committee, Director of the Department of Science and Technology. He highly appreciated the sharing and practical contributions from the delegates in the workshop. In addition, he also expressed his hope that businesses will support the promotion of innovative start-up activities in the city to inspire and motivate individuals and groups.

The workshop is an opportunity for agencies, departments and businesses to exchange and discuss in order to find solutions to overcome current difficulties and create opportunities for innovative businesses to develop quickly and sustainably. In the coming time, FundGo will promote participation in similar programs to connect and accompany projects and businesses to work towards success in the new era.
